<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent picture with high brightness, high contrast and brightness in white peak levels by increasing a white peak suppression level at the reception of the standard television signal so as to increase a white peak current of the CRT. CONSTITUTION:The cathode current (current at high voltage) of a CRT 7 is limited in interlocking with the changeover of the reception mode. That is, the gain of a contrast circuit 3 is increased by a prescribed quantity at the reception of the standard television signal based on the high definition television reception mode as the standard, and the detection sensitivity of a high voltage current detection circuit 9 is decreased by a prescribed rate and the suppressing level of a white peak suppression circuit 5 is increased by a prescribed value in interlocking therewith. Thus, even at the reception of the standard television signal, a picture with high brightness, high contrast while the brightness in white peak signals is increased is reproduced.</p> |
