PURPOSE:To wipe the front of a recording head without adding a drive source, by a method wherein the gear for rotation of a blade is engaged with the rack of a carriage and the front of the recording head is wiped with the rotating blade rotating with the movement of the carriage. CONSTITUTION:A wiping means 12 is established between the home position and the printing region, and the wiping means 12 engages the gear 18 for rotation of a blade 16 with the rack 13 of a carriage by utilizing a cam gear 1. Then, the fronts of recording heads 5A-5D are wiped with the rotating blade 16 rotating with the movement of the carriage 4. A lever 15 is driven between the advance position and the retreat position by a circumferential cam surface 20 and the blade 16, when the carriage 4 is moved in the arrow B direction, rotates reversely from the front of motion direction to the recording heads 5A-5D like the arrow C to raise the effect of wiping. Without requiring the addition of a drive source such as a wiping motor, the front of the recording head can be wiped in a simple low cost structure. |
