PURPOSE:To suppress the rising of electric potential in the light part of an exposed image area and to set the potential contrast of an electrostatic latent image large by performing the exposure of images before electrification, electrifying in a state where optical carriers remain and forming the electrostatic latent image. CONSTITUTION:The optical carriers generated with the photoirradiation of a main destaticizing lamp complete recombination to a blank exposing position A1 and a non-image area is blank-exposed at the position A1 and the optical carriers are generated. Then the images are exposed at the position A and the optical carriers are generated in a photosensitive layer. Before the recombination of the optical carriers in the light part in the image area is completed, the electrification is performed by a main electrifier 22. Since the light part in the image area receives the effect of the residual optical carriers and necessitates an electrifying current in order to sweep out the carriers, the rising of potential can be suppressed. Meanwhile, a dark part does not receive the effect of the residual optical carriers and then the potential rises. Thus, the potential contrast of the electrostatic latent image can be set large. |
