PURPOSE:To prevent a photoreceptive layer from cracking and peeling even after successive uses for a long time by incorporating Al, Si, H and/or X (halogen), and at least one of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and transition metals in the light receptive layer having a specified multilayer structure. CONSTITUTION:The electrophotographic photoreceptive member 100 has on an aluminum type substrate 101 the light receptive layer 102 composed of a lower layer 103 containing Al, Si, and H in a nonuniform distribution in the layer thickness direction and an upper layer 104 composed of a material except Si hydride and/or halide [non-Si(H, X)]. The lower layer 103 contains Al decreasing in the upward direction from the bottom in contact with the substrate 101, down to >=20atom.% near the upper part, and Si, H and/or X increasing in the upward direction, and the layer 103 also contains at least one of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and transition metals, thus permitting H and/or X contained in the layer 103 to be better dispersed, and consequently, cracking and peeling to be effectively prevented. |
