PURPOSE:To improve the desensitising performance of the title material without increasing the coated amount of silver by reducing the swelling degree of a nonphotosensitive layer located on the upper layer of a photosensitive layer after a photographic processing than that before the photographic processing. CONSTITUTION:In the photosensitive material provided with the photosensitive layer and the nonphotosensitive layer on a substrate body, the swelling degree of one or more of the nonphotosensitive layers which locate on the upper layer of the photosensitive layer observing from the supporting body side after the photographic processing is reduced than that before the photographic processing. In order to obtain the purpose as mentioned above, the precursor of a vinylsulfone type hardening agent shown by formula I may be incorporated in the nonphotosensitive layer. In formula I, R is alkyl group or halogen atom., etc., J is a divalent linking group, A is an ethylenically unsatd. monomer, X is halogen atom. or SO4M group (wherein M is a cation), (x) and (y) are each mol.%.
