PURPOSE:To reduce the occupation area of a toner cartridge after toner supply and to make the equipment compact by forming the toner cartridge of a pedestal part with rigidity and a variable structure part which can deform. CONSTITUTION:The toner cartridge 2 is equipped with the pedestal part 8 with rigidity to be mounted on a developing device and the variable structure part 9 made of a flexible material such as paper and a film on it. When the cartridge 2 is changed because of its toner end, the majority of the toner in the cartridge 2 is put in a toner hopper part and the cartridge is emptied. In this state, the variable part 9 decreases in occupation volume by its own weight or pressure application to form a space in a printer. Units such as an optical system and fed paper are stored in this space. Consequently, the equipment is made compact and a sufficient layout is obtained. |
