The liquid gas flows from a container (11) via an electromangetically-controlled valve (10) into the evaporator section (3). The liquid passes through the baffled section, evaporating into gas by the time it reaches the pressure regulator (2) where a spring-loaded diaphragm valve unit (4) ensures that the pressure at the outlet is reduced to a suitable level. A capacitive transducer is mounted in the wall of the evaporator near its output. If liquid is present between the electrodes of the transducer, the capacitance will differ from that caused when gas is present, as they have different dielectric properties. The transducer has a cylindrical inner electrode with a circular plate on its inner end. The other electroje is a concentric sleeve, which screws into an aperture in the evaporator wall. A detector and drive circuit, mounted on the outside end of the transducer, controls the inlet valve.
|
