PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized low-cost optical coupler even if output side optical fibers are >=3 pieces by bringing the exit end face of an input side optical fiber and the incident end faces of the plural output side fibers into tight contact with both end faces of a light guide having a rectangular shape. CONSTITUTION:The light guide 15 is formed by diffusing titanium, etc., to the surface of a light guide substrate 14 consisting of, for example, lithium niobate, etc. The exit end face of the input side optical fiber 10 inserted into the V groove of a holding plate 35 is adhered and fixed by an adhesive agent to one end face of such light guide. The plural output side optical fibers 20-1,...20-5 inserted into the V grooves of the holding plate 40 are pressed to the other face of the guide 15. Nearly equally divided light signals are thereby distributed to the output side even if the output side optical fibers are >=3 pieces. The small-sized low-cost optical coupler is thus obtd. |
