CONSTITUTION:In a metallic sintered friction material obtained by blending a lubricant and abrasive material with a base material contg. a binder, sintering accelerator, and, if necessary, reinforcing fiber and sintering the mixt., the blending ratio of graphite used as a part or the whole of lubricants to soft ceramics having a large specific surface area, used as a part or the whole of abrasive materials is adjusted properly and pref. within a range of 1:30-1:3. As a result, the friction coefficient is controlled by the blending ratio of the ingredients. The adoption of metallic short fiber as a part or the whole of reinforcing fibers provides low fluctuation in value of as frictional conditions vary slightly, because of its low density and markedly soft material.
