<p>PURPOSE:To confirm whether an electronic component is operating within a guaranteed temperature range or not by a method wherein a liquid crystal whose color is changed at a temperature exceeding the temperature range guaranteeing a rated value of the component body is installed at a sheathing part of the electronic component. CONSTITUTION:Lead wires 11 of a resistance are extracted from electrodes 12. A resistor 13 of a metal thin film as the resistance body is laid between these two electrodes 12. A transparent heatresistant resin 15 is coated on the resistor 13 so that a ribbon formed by processing a liquid crystal which has been moistened between two plastic thin films can be wound on this resistance and can be fixed to it. By this setup, it is possible to observe from the outside whether the liquid crystal installed at a sheathing part at the circumference of the resistor 13 has become discolored or not. For example, when the resistance where the liquid crystal whose color is changed to purple at +70 deg.C has been mounted is used at a temperature exceeding +70 deg.C where its resistance value during an operation is not guaranteed, the liquid crystal is discolored to purple and indicates an increase in the resistance value.</p> |
