NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I [A is group shown by formula II (R1 is H, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R2 and R3 are alkyl, aralkyl or aryl), 9-anthryl, N-substituted carbazolyl or N-alkylphenothiazinyl; n is 2-8]. USE:An electron transporting substance in sensitized layer of function separation type, fluorescent brightening agent, etc. PREPARATION:A compound shown by formula III [Y is group shown by formula IV (Z is halogen) or -PO(OR4)2 (R4 is lower alkyl)] is reacted with a compound shown by formula V in the presence of a basic catalyst (e.g., potassium soda or sodium amide) in a solvent such as methanol or DMF to give a compound shown by formula I.
