<p>PURPOSE:To make smooth steering possible by reducing the compensation amount of steering force to zero(0) little by little when a car speed exceeds given value and on the other hand, while by varying the compensation amount of steeling force to objective value gradually corresponding a steering torque and a car speed when a car speed does not exceed given value. CONSTITUTION:A captioned device has a torque sensor 22 for detecting the twist of the torsion bar provided between the input and output shafts of a steering shaft. The output is input to a controller 25 along with the output of a car speed sensor 26 to control an electric motor 19 conforming to car speed. The torque of the electric motor 19 is given to the steering system through a clutch 19 as auxiliary steering force. At this moment, in the controller 25, the control is performed in such a way that when a car speed exceeds given value, the compensation amount of steering force is reduced to zero(0) little by little, and then the clutch 18 is disengaged, and on the other hand, when a car speed is lowered to a given value or less, the compensation amount of steering force is controlled to change to the objective value corresponding to a steering torque and car speed gradually after the clutch is engaged.</p> |
