PURPOSE:To stably execute condensing with a lens by driving the lens by a driving force which is applied to the lens before a random access, until a condensing position of the lens coincides on a track after the random access is ended. CONSTITUTION:In the course of operation of a random access, when a driving force which is applied to a lens 6 before the random access is started is denoted as X, a driving force of X+A is applied until a condensing position of the lens reaches a middle point of the present track and the object track, and thereafter, a driving force of deceleration of X-A is applied to the lens by the time when X+A is applied to the lens. After the random access is ended, the driving force X is applied to the lens until the condensing position of the lens coincides with a position of a track 2, and in the end, the lens is controlled so that the condensing position of the lens coincided with a position of the track. When a control error (tracking error) is '0', such a control as the condensing position of the lens coincides with the track is applied, therefore, the control is stably applied.
