PURPOSE:To recover continuously a polymer remarkably low in a fine powder content and good in powder properties from a polymer latex, by treating it in the presence of a water-soluble metal salt as a coagulant under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A polymer latex comprising 10-100pts.wt. (in terms of solid matter) copolymer latex (A) obtained by emulsion-polymerizing a maleimide monomer with a monomer selected from among an aromatic vinyl monomer, an unsaturated nitrile monomer, an unsaturated carboxylic acid, etc., and other comonomers and 0-90pts.wt. (in terms of solid matter) graft copolymer latex (B) comprising a rubbery polymer and the monomer components of A other than the maleimide monomer. The solid concentration of said polymer latex is adjusted to 5-30wt%, and the resulting latex is treated in the presence of bivalent and/or trivalent water-soluble metal salts as a coagulant under conditions including a temperature by at most 25 deg.C lower than the glass transition temperature of the copolymer in the copolymer latex (A) and an average residence time of 0.1-100min.
