摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain the title liquid crystal display device which suppresses a decrease in the transmissivity of a picture element part as much as possible even if the insulating film of a metal-insulating film-metal element (MIM element) is colored by forming the insulating film by a wet or dry coating method. CONSTITUTION:A film formed on a lower electrode 12 by the wet or dry coating method is patterned to form the insulating film 13. Namely, the insulating film of the MIM element is formed by the wet or dry coating which is large in the degree of freedom of material and formation conditions, etc., and this film is patterned into a prescribed pattern by wet etching, dry etching, or a lift-off method, etc., to minimize the area of the overlap between the insulating film and upper electrode. Consequently, hard carbon film, etc., is usable without various restrictions unlike an anode oxidizing method, and the characteristics of the MIM element are improved more; and the insulating film is patterned by a patterning process, so the overlap with the upper electrode can be minimized.</p>
