The round-bottomed groove cut in the wall is slightly wider than the diameter of the pipe (3) or cable which is to be secured. The angle between the groove walls and the wall surface is not a right angle. The pipe or cable (3) is palced in the groove and a number of wedges (4) are pressed into the groove on the side which slopes away from the pipe. The wedges (4) have an approximate V-shaped cross-section with protruding edges (13,14) at the broad end (7) and a flat-sided (12) protrusion with sharp edges (8) at the narrow end. When the wedge is pushed home, one flat side compresses the pipe (3) forcing it against the other wall, while the sharp edges (13,14,8) dig into the wall and prevent the wedge from dropping out.
|
