A process allowing containers, reservoirs, pipes and installations containing liquids which can freeze, central heating installations and cooling radiators for engines to be protected from freezing. The process consists in positioning devices made from an elastic material and with an impermeable surface, which are able to compensate for the expansion of the liquid under the effect of freezing by being compressed, at the time of manufacture or during use.
