PURPOSE:To obtain a sealed storage battery which is safety and easy to handle by partitioning the upper space of a plate group into two with a thin partition, and installing an exhaust cylinder in the thin partition so as to keep airtightness there but form a gap between a cover and a passing through part. CONSTITUTION:The upper space of a plate group 3 is partitioned into the first space 5 and the second space 6 with a thin partition 4. An exhaust cylinder 12 having a rubber valve 7, a filter 8, and an exhaust hole 9 is installed mountably and demountably in the partition 4. The exhaust cylinder 12 is installed in the partition 12 in airtightness but forms a gap between a cover 13 and a passing through part 14. Almost all hydrogen gas and oxygen gas evolved in charging are exhausted outside through the exhaust cylinder. Even if a battery exploded accidentally by ignition, the explosion is limited on the inside of the battery and damage to the circumference of the battery is prevented. |
