The separator is used for sorting particulate material into fine and coarse groups. This apparatus comprises a varied rotor (1) rotating on a vertical axis. Vanes are provided between a bottom plate (3) and a top plate (2) having distributors (8-10) for unsorted material suspended in a conveying gas. A housing encloses the rotor and has an inlet for the gas, an upper outlet (7) for discharge of the separated fine faction, and an inlet (13) for unsorted pariculate material. An annular collecting casing (10) is secured to and coaxial with the top plate at a radial distance from the top plate. This device brings even distribution of material around the rotor.
