The grit sprayer has a compressed air pipe (2) with a compressed air source at one end and a nozzle jet (6) at the other. At an intermediate point, a grit supply joint (II) is provided which is connected to the output of a pressure tight grit reservoir. There is an air motor driven conveyor transporting grit out of the reservoir in the pipe under pressure. The transporter is an auger enclosed in a pipe coaxial with the outlet opening of the reservoir and joined to it. The auger also partly extends into the reservoir, and the motor is mounted inside the reservoir such that the auger drive shaft extends through the outlet opening.
