METHODS FOR PRODUCING TILE USED SLAG

The mixture for the manufacture of flooring tiles contains 80-84 wt.% blast furnace slag, 11.0-9.0 wt.% silica, 4.2-2.4 wt.% fluorspar, 3.0-2.0 wt.% Na2CO3, 0.6-1.0 wt.% B2O3 and 1.2-1.6 wt.% Cr2O3. The tiles are obtained by melting the mixture within the composition range of gehlenite which consists of recrystalline phases, and firing for 3 hours at 805 deg.C. The tiles improve their properties such as strength and density.
