A vehicle according to the invention is of the type including a platform 1 equipped with a pivot for hitching to a towing vehicle, with hydraulic stays 3 and with a road-going axle set 4 which can be raised by means of a jack. The platform 1 may be placed on two removable auxiliary chassis 91, 92 each one associated with a bogie 81, 82 and carrying railway hitching members 10, 11. Each auxiliary chassis carries cylindroconical spindles which engage into cylindroconical sheaths carried by the platform in order to centre it. The auxiliary chassis carry a lateral guidance device 141, 142 and a longitudinal guidance device 151 which provide a first approximate centring of the platform. One application is the construction of semi-trailers which can be converted into waggons. <IMAGE>
