<p>The machine, which is of the commutator-less, three-phase type can be operated as an alternator or as a motor. Around the rotor (7) is the stator lamination stack (4), through which the three stator windings (5) are fed. Auxiliary windings (14) are fed through the stack around its periphery, just inside the outer casing (2). The angle (alpha) between the star-connected stator windings is identical to that between the auxiliary windings. The currents through the auxiliary windings flow through adjustable resistances which are used to 'tune out' and stray fields emanating from the stator.</p> |
