PURPOSE: To simplify the structure, and to prevent the generation of looseness of the holding force of a jaw member by axially moving a rear jaw member inward or outward in the radial direction in relation to the spindle axis with a front jaw member through a rod. CONSTITUTION: In a chuck assembly 1, a front end of a spindle 10 is provided with plural front jaws FJ, and these front jaws FJ are connected to a corresponding rear jaw through a corresponding rod 50, and each rod 50 is installed on the spindle 10 so as to be turned around an axis of the rod provided in parallel with the axis of the spindle 10. Consequently, when the front jaws FJ are driven so as to be engaged with a work piece, the rear jaws RJ are positioned in the corner direction on the rod 50 relatively to the front jaws FJ so as to obtain the appropriate holding force to the work piece at both ends of the spindle 10. With this structure, a desirable holding force is obtained and while the number of structural members and dimension thereof are reduced. |
