The valve housing (201) has a cylinder screened off from the valve space (202) and divided by a servo piston (203) into two cylinder spaces (205, 206). The moving valve plate (208), which interacts with a valve seat (207), is connected by a spindle (209) to the servo piston. On the side of the valve seat facing the valve plate (208), the housing (201) is provided with an inlet stub (210) and, on the side of the valve seat facing away from the valve plate, it is provided with an outlet stub (211). For the selective admission of different pressures to at least one of the two cylinder spaces (205, 206), pressure control means (217) are provided to press the valve plate onto the valve seat or to move it away from the latter. Adjoining the valve seat (207) on its side facing away from the valve plate (208) is a balance cylinder (214) in which a balance piston (213) connected coaxially to the valve plate is guided. The mutually facing faces of the valve plate (208) and the balance piston (213) are essentially of equal size and the balance-cylinder space situated between the balance piston and the valve plate is connected to the outlet stub (211). <IMAGE>
