The invention relates to an apparatus for centering the pins (7) of a pin chain (6) at the transfer/taking-over of hollow bodies onto or from the pins (7) by means of a transfer device (18), the pin chain (6) being driven by a drive via at least one sprocket wheel (5), and the pins (7) being guided between a rotating centering element and an assigned curved track (16), the centering element and the curved track (16) being arranged so as to be adjustable in terms of distance from the sprocket wheel (5). According to the invention, the centering element is a toothed belt (11) which circulates about two toothed-belt wheels (9a, 9b), has outwardly projecting driving dogs (12) arranged at the same spacing as the pins (7) of the pin chain (6), and is guided with its dog side by the curved track (16) which corresponds to a section of the effective track (17) of the transfer device (18). The pin chain (6) is assigned a corresponding curved chain track (20), the centres of the curved tracks (16, 20) and of the effective track (17) being situated, at a distance from each other, on a common axis. <IMAGE>
