METHOD FOR GROWING SINGL-CRYSTALS

A signal crystal pulling furnace is equipped with a magnetic field generator which produces across the melt in the crucible two magnetic areas. The first area in the upper section of the melt has an intensity to prevent any thermal convection. The second area in a lower section of the melt has an intensity which does not prevent the thermal convection. A setting device can be used to shift the boundary between the two areas as the level of the melt drops.
