A rotary tedder having tine wheels (14) arranged on a crossmember (12) is followed by a hay collector which consists of two jibs (26) arranged mirror-symmetrically and having throwing wheels (28). In a towed version, the rear ends of the jibs (26) are connected to one another by means of a travelling frame (30). In a pushed alternative, the travelling frame (30) designed without running wheels is fastened to the front of the tractor or the jibs (26) are fastened directly to the front of the tractor frame. The reaped material is tedded by means of the apparatus according to the invention and is subsequently laid in swathes in the same pass. <IMAGE>
