PURPOSE:To obtain the title heat-insulation material having high surface hardness and scarcely generating graphite powder from the surface, by impregnating a bent C fiber with a specific matrix resin, hardening the resin with heat and graphitizing the product. CONSTITUTION:A mat or felt of bent C fiber (e.g. Donacarbo) having aspect ratio of >=5.0 and specific volume of >=1cm<3>/g is impregnated or coated with (A) a matrix resin produced by mixing 100pts.wt. of a phenolic resin, 20-100pts. wt. of furfuryl alcohol, furan resin or their mixture and 5-30pts.wt. of hexamethylenetetramine. The obtained prepreg is cured with heat to obtain a preformed heat-insulation material. The material is impregnated or coated with (B) a composition produced by dispersing 5-30pts.wt. of graphite in 100pts. wt. of the matrix resin of the component A, cured by heating in N2 atmosphere and graphitized by calcining in vacuum. |
