<p>The invention concerns a device and a process for scanning the surface of an object (9), in particular a mobile object (9), with a light-reflecting or light-scattering surface. In addition to a light source (11, 11') which illuminates said surface and which has an optical element (4) with a through-hole (6) for the passage of the object (9), the device comprises an optoelectronic sensor (8), and an evaluation device. The light reflected or scattered by the object (9) is projected onto the optical element (4), directed to the sensor (8), and evaluated in the evaluation device. The through-hole (6) in the optical element (4) is arranged centrally with respect to the reflecting surface (5) of the latter and surrounds the periphery of the object (9) during sensing and passage of the latter. The light source (11, 11') illuminates the object (9) peripherally in the region above the through-hole (6) in such a way that the light reflected or scattered peripherally by the object (9) falls on the optical element (4), which directs it to the sensor (8). From the light, the sensor (8) detects a closed peripheral band which corresponds to a peripheral region of the object (9) of predetermined width.</p> |
