PURPOSE:To prevent the catcher from being damaged by a method wherein fine particles collected in the catcher are removed by liquid or its vapor when the catcher for fine particles contained in the exhaust gas is to be regenerated. CONSTITUTION:Either liquid or its vapor is applied in order to remove the fine particles contained in the catcher. As the liquid, either water or water-based medium is suitable in view of its effect and easiness in its acquisition. The water-based medium referred here is water containing organic substances such as a small volume of surface active agent, alcohol and glycol etc. and weak acid etc. As the vapor, water vapor is preferentially applied. As an operation for removing fine particles collected in the catcher, the catcher fixed at the exhaust gas outlet port is removed, placed in the flow of liquid or its vapor, placed in the injection of liquid or its vapor or immersed in liquid or its vapor. |
