An epoxy-modified hydrocarbon resin prepared by epoxidizing a phenol-modified hydrocarbon resin, which is a copolymer between hydrocarbon olefins mainly composed of aromatic olefins such as indene, styrene, coumarone, etc. and a phenol, with epichlorohydrin. This resin undergoes crosslinking or grafting reaction with polymers having functional groups or composition capable of reacting with an epoxy group, and hence it is quite useful as the modifier or base polymer for paints, adhesives, rubbers, IC sealant, etc. and as the starting material of a compatibilizer for non-compatible polymers. |
