In a pneumatic booster, the chamber counteracting the inlet control pressure (pk) is subdivided into two chambers (24, 26) by a partition wall (16). A double cone (32) is guided with its shank (34) in a sealed-off manner in the partition wall (16). The lower chamber (26) is connected to the outlet via a channel (54), and a bore (52) connects this channel (54) to the chamber (24) located above. When the incoming air (Z) is allowed through to the outlet (Y), a negative pressure occurs in the chamber (24) via the bore (52), so that, in the event of an abrupt rise in the inlet control pressure, the booster does not tend to overshoot (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
