The invention relates to a supporting nozzle for weaving machines having pneumatic weft insertion, for blowing the insertion medium out of a number of individual single-hole nozzles arranged distributed along the shed. In order to obtain a ratio of length to diameter of the nozzle channel favourable for the shape of the jet, and in order to make the jet direction independent of the pilot pressure inside the nozzle body, but keep the outer dimensions of the nozzle body small, the nozzle body is designed as a tube having a relatively small wall thickness and a channel forming the air-outlet orifice is provided in a block arranged laterally on the nozzle body and projecting into the interior. The channel can be designed in terms of its length and diameter with the dimensions necessary for a favourable flow, without the outer dimensions of the nozzle body being increased. The block containing the channel can be integrated as a material reinforcement into the wall or be inserted as a nozzle insert into a bore in the wall.
