A vehicle wheelspin control system includes a fluid pressure operated brake (11) associated with a first wheel of the vehicle, a wheel speed sensor (70; 71) associated with said first wheel and a wheel speed sensor (70'; 71') associated with a second wheel of the vehicle, a control unit (100) for comparing the speed of the first wheel with that of the second wheel and a brake control servo (14) for applying the brake (11) associated with the first wheel when the speed of the first wheel exceeds the speed of the second wheel by more than a predetermined value, the brake effort applied to the first wheel being maintained at a level required to keep the first wheel spinning at a predetermined speed above that of the second wheel under control of the control unit (100). |
