PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a coating dry crack of a welding electrode and to elevate productivity for manufacturing a coated welding rod by coating a core wire with a coating agent adjusted by adding water glass as a caking agent at a specified temp., to a mixed flux for the welding rod coating agent. CONSTITUTION:A coating agent material adjusted into a composition and a mixing ratio required for obtaining a desired coating agent is mixed by dry process and to this material, water glass which has been heated in advance to a temperature of 30-60 deg.C as a caking agent is added, and is kneaded by wet process. Subsequently, said kneaded substance (coating agent) is coated uniformly onto the circumference of a core wire in the coating process, and through the drying process, a coated welding rod is manufactured. As a result, by maintaning a temperature of water glass within a prescribed range, it is always possible to efficiently manufacture a coated welding rod whose quality is satisfactory. Especially, this method is applied effectively to manufacture a coated welding rod of a cellulose compound and a lime titania compound for stainless steel. |
