摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce a share of workload in a friction engaging unit, when a speed change is performed, by temporarily engaging the friction engaging unit for attaining the other speed change shift in addition to engaging the necessary friction engaging unit when an upshift is performed. CONSTITUTION:For instance, when an upshift is performed from the first speed shift to the second speed shift, in addition to engaging the fourth clutch 44 inevitable for attaining the second speed shift, the second clutch 40 necessary for attaining the third and fourth speed shifts, being the high speed shift, is temporarily engaged. Then by engaging the first, second and the fourth clutches 38, 40, 44, rotary power is input from an input shaft 52 to a carrier 16 in addition to a sun gear 20, and in accordance with this action, the fourth clutch 44 is reduced in its workload. In this way, when a speed change is performed, a friction engaging unit enables a share of its workload to be reduced.
