PURPOSE:To appropriately decide the attributes of the flat part, the edge part, and the network point part, etc., of a color picture and to execute an appropriate picture processing based on the decided result by deciding the attributes on a picture element block from the number of the classes of colors to compose the picture element block. CONSTITUTION:A dividing means divides the color picture, which is a processing object, into areas each of which is the set of fixed picture elements, a color number detecting means obtains the number of the classes of the colors to represent the inside of the area for each area, an attribute deciding means decides the picture attributes of the edge part, the network point part, the flat part, etc., according to the number of the classes of the colors, and a picture processing means executes the appropriate picture processing based on the decided result of the attributes. Thus, the appropriate attribute deciding for the color picture can be executed, the appropriate picture processing can be executed, and therefore, a satisfactory color picture can be obtained. |
