PURPOSE:To enhance oil absorbency by containing a kapok fiber in viscose sponge as a reinforcing fiber. CONSTITUTION:A kapok fiber and crystalline mirabilite are added to and mixed with viscose and the resulting mixture is molded into a required shape while the molded one is coagulated by heating and subsequently brought into contact with an acidic aqueous solution to regenerate cellulose and next washed with water and dried to prepare viscose sponge. This kapok fiber is pref. contained in the sponge in an amount of 20-150 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of cellulose. By this method, oil absorbency is improved markedly and good flexibility can be also imparted. |
