PURPOSE:To prevent degradation of processing capacity in following processes, in a carrier of paper sheets such as postal matter, by detecting the amount of paper sheets mounted on a carrying means and controlling the carrying speed to low level if the amount is higher than a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION:A detector 11 in an amount detecting section 7 detects the amount of postal matters collected from posts in the way of carriage from a carry belt 3 to another carry belt 5, and a sensor input circuit provides a detection signal to CPU. If the amount of the postal matters detected through the detector 11 is large, carrying speed of a carry motor is switched to an intermediate speed through CPU. A large amount of postal matters 1 carried with intermediate carrying speed through the carry motor are fed sequentially to a duster section 13 where they are scattered and fed to a thickness selecting section 15. When large amount of postal matters 1 are scattered at the duster section 13, CPU switches the input terminal of a select circuit from high to low level. |
