<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a metal-containing fiber which has an electric, magnetic and physiologically active functions, from which metal is hard to be peeled off and which is superior in durability by spinning a mixed water-solution of polyvinyl alcohol and water-soluble metal compound and then subjecting it to a reduction treatment. CONSTITUTION: This method comprises spinning a mixed spinning stock solution of a polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of polymerization of pref. 500 to 5,000 and a water-soluble metal compound of, e.g. metal acid salt or organic acid salt of a metal selected from the group consisting of, e.g. Cu, Ag, Au or V; obtaining a metal-containing PVA fiber, immersing it preferably in sodium hydroxide solution for insolubilizing the metal in the fiber, and subjecting it to a reduction treatment by using formalin. This produces a metal-containing fiber without a rigid feeling seen in the after-treatment of conventional plating and extremely little in exfoliation of metal.</p> |
