<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate reading impossibility at a reading time by display-writing the quality level of a magnetic tape from an error number generated at a writing time, and a total block number at a time point data written to the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:An error detecting signal from a writing/reading formatter 16 and a block detecting signal or the data signal of a tape quality display identifying flag written to a magnetic tape 1 are received by an I/O port 17 and sent to a microprocessor 18. The microprocessor 18 counts the error detecting signal and the block detecting signal and the signals are recorded to a RAM 19. Q-data are obtained as a tape quality display identifying block by a Q-data generating means from the counted number of errors and blocks. Then, status edition is executed and the data are recorded to the RAM 19. Thus, the quality of the magnetic tape can be discriminated and when the data are read, the reading improssibility can be eliminated.</p> |
