In a method for treating backwater 32 from a paper-making machine and/or plant for manufacturing paper pulp 30, the backwater is subjected to treatment in a separation arrangement 34 in which the water which is to be treated is conveyed to a chamber with a water-permeable membrane arranged in it, the water being divided up into a part 40, the permeate, which passes through the membrane and is essentially freed of at least non-dissolved solid impurities, and a part 41, the reject, which is moved along the membrane and concentrated up with respect to at least non-dissolved solid impurities, and the water being cast over the membrane by a rotor arranged in the chamber on the inlet side and rotating parallel to the membrane. The concentrated reject 41 is subjected to treatment for obtaining a more concentrated reject 48, 45 and further permeate 47, 44. The more concentrated reject 48 may be subjected to further concentration in the same way to obtain an even more concentrated reject 45 and further permeate 44. The concentrated reject 45 which is finally obtained is subjected to combustion without prior evaporation, and one or more of the permeates 40, 44, 47 is/are re-used as fresh water 31. <IMAGE> |
