PURPOSE: To transform an optional color selected from the color area of a display device to an HVC color space by transforming the HVC coordinates of the selected color to the corresponding primary luminance vector of the selected color. CONSTITUTION: Data corresponding to the primary color luminance vector of the selected color are inputted to an input device 14 and a memory 18 and stored. A processor 16 generates a matrix for transforming the primary color luminance vector to corresponding XYZ 3 stimulus values, multiplies the primary color luminance vector of the selected color to the primary color luminance vector of the selected color, obtains the 3 stimulus values XS, YS and ZS of the color, decides the L*, u* and v* coordinates of a CIELUV system and calculates the H, V and C coordinates further. Thus, the color selected from the color area reproducible in a color display device is transformed to a perceptively uniform color space by the H, V and C coordinates, the luminance of respective primary colors is varied between maximum and minimum luminance and a primary luminance level for indicating the relative value of the primary luminance level by color selection is defined. |
