A device for holding a rolling mill roll on a support shaft consists of a tapered sleeve with reducing wall thickness surrounding a tapered part of the support shaft. The sleeve is itself surrounded by a ring which carries a cylindrical hard metal roll having a longitudinal bore. The ring longitudinal bore in the hard metal roll is so dimensioned that the sleeve expands the split ring and presses on the bore wall of the hard metal roll to form a non-rotatable joint. The split ring has an inner surface that is smoother than its outer surface, which is in turn rougher than the inner wall of the hard metal roll. |
