Two detectors for the pitching motion and the rolling motion of a ship are mounted; one is parallel to the bow and the other perpendicular to it. The detector comprises a rotatable disk (5) having a counterweight (8) at the lower center, contactors (9,10) fixedly mounted on the disk at both sides of a center shaft (2), micro-switches (16,17) with contact rollers (18,19) mounted on a support bracket (15) over the contactors, and stoppers (20,21) mounted on the bracket to limit the excessive rotation of the disk. The disk of the detector may rotate and actuate the contact roller due to the pitching motion and the rolling motion of the ship so as to stop the elevator in a risky situation.
