PURPOSE:To omit the annealing stage and to save energy in the wire rod production stage by cooling a high-temp. wire rod immediately after hot rolling with the title wire-rod coil accumulating device of specified structure, and then annealing the obtained coil by utilizing the heat retained by the coil. CONSTITUTION:The high-temp. wire rod 1 from the final hot-rolling stand is controlled to a specified temp. by a water cooling device 2, formed into an annular wire rod by a laying head 3, and sent to the coil accumulating device by a conveyor 4. The coil accumulating device is formed by an annealing pot 10, a bottom-plate lift 30, a sail 40, etc., the inner diameter of the annular wirerod coil 6 is controlled to a desired value by the sail in the annealing pot 10, and the coil is annealed in the annealing pot 10 consisting of the inner wall 12 and the outer wall 15 with a heat insulating material 14 in between. The coil 6 is acuumulated on the bottom plate 20 provided with the lift 30 at the lower part, gradually lowered in the annealing pot 10 along with the bottom plate 20, and annealed by the heat retained by the coil. As a result, the wire rod coil is annealed without the need for a conventioal annealing device. |
