Process and apparatus for producing ceramic mouldings

For producing ceramic products, in particular those resistant to frost, in particular roof tiles, a two-staged pressing process is proposed. In a first stage, preliminary mouldings are pressed with little pressure from the raw material of a soft preparation in a preliminary mould. These preliminary mouldings are intermediately dried until the material is of a stiff consistency. Then, final mouldings (4) are pressed with high pressure from the said material in the final mould (1). The preliminary moulding is conducted in such a way that the amount of material of the preliminary mouldings already coincides with the amount of material of the final mouldings (4), so that finishing work is no longer required on the final mouldings. <IMAGE>
