Welding torch (2) for use in arc welding robots has a nozzle (2a), a conduit (2b) for feeding filler wire, a gas supply tube (2c), a signal cable (2d) and a current conducting cable (2e). Hollow cylindrical switch shaft (2g) has an axial passage for wire and gas supply through the tube and conduit and a ball shaft (2h) has partly spherical sections held against conical portions of a center shaft, coupled to the nozzle, and the switch shaft, and also has passages for wire and gas. Limit switch (2i) can be actuated by axial movement of the switch shaft to generate a stop signal passed by the signal cable to a control. Housing has a recess in which the limit switch and the rotation prevention cover are mounted.
