摘要 PURPOSE:To make ignition timing for a multicylinder internal combustion engine individually controllable at each cylinder with a few numbers of knocking sensors by performing partial cylinder control and uniform control over the ignition timing after being selected on the basis of driving conditions. CONSTITUTION:In an internal combustion engine 11, at the time of driving conditions where knocking detection accuracy for a cylinder existing in a position apart from a knocking sensor 12, for example, at the time of engine high speed, a second ignition timing control means in a control unit 13 is selected. In this case, ignition timing of all cylinders is uniformly controlled for timing delay on the basis of knocking detection of the whole cylinder or specific ones. Consequently, as far as knocking occurs in a cylinder relatively proximate to the knocking sensor 12, the ignition timing is compensated for timing delay even as to the cylinder a part from the knocking sensor 12, so that intensive knocking occurrence is prevented from occurring. In addition, at the time of driving conditions other than that, for example, at the time of engine low speed, a first ignition timing control means is selected, and thereby timing delay control by cylinders is carried out.
